Korakia Pensione has to be one of the most beautiful and relaxing places I have ever stayed in. Deep in the heart of Palm Springs, the exquisite Mediterranean-style rooms and gardens provide the perfect escape for those wanting to hide away from the hustle and bustle of reality for a little while.
I began the day with the most delightful complimentary full-cooked breakfast in the Moroccan Courtyard. With beautiful mosaic floors, water fountains and fresh orange juice from their own trees, it provides the perfect environment to get in touch with yourself once more. The food is most delicious; this is the second time I have had the honour to stay at the establishment and I can comfortably say that the food is remarkable – I recommend the American Pancakes for anyone who is feeling a bit naughty. As for the rooms, I have stayed in two different rooms in the hotel. The Appollonia Studio and the Aegean Bungalow. Both are utterly spectacular!
I spent most of my time at the poolside and afternoons doing yoga in the gardens. There are plenty of places to escape; hiding in the Library Lounge, pampering yourself in the spa or sunbathing reading magazines on an oriental day bed.
I think it’s one of the most lovely places to take a date; why not challenge them to a game of bocce ball (of which, this is one of my rare ‘sporty’ skills) or take a ride around Palm Springs on a complimentary vintage bicycle. Though one must be advised, I would not recommend cycling at midday in August – it was so hot!
Evening’s at Korakia are wonderfully romantic. There are lanterns and fire pits in the evening, classic and foreign movies in the outdoor cinema and the pools are heated at night. I have hand on heart had some of the most beautiful memories in this hotel. It’s one of a kind and I truly recommend it. There is also an exceedingly adorable cat that makes an appearance every so often, so for cat lovers who favour these fluffy faces then this is an additional perk.
