The prospect of a sunny vacation would have left ‘old Alice’ in a slight frantic state, ready to have a full on fashion identity crisis. It’s difficult when you are so used to living in a climate where you are able to hide under layers of clothes and barely have days where an ankle is showing. Alas, this year, I have been working on finding summer looks and I have to say, I’ve fallen quite in love with a few styles.
Last month I ventured to an Island in Croatia and it was utter heaven: crystal clear waters, beaming sunshine and impeccably clean streets that glistened as you walked through them. For those of you that have not been there, I would fully recommend a trip as it was breathtakingly beautiful.
As for evening attire, this outfit has to be one of my all time favourites. It is classic, timeless and still very wearable without being too much. The dress is in the style of a 50s a line dress, seamlessly fitting my waist and flaring out. It creates the most flattering silhouette and looks immaculate paired with light pink patent mary janes.
I accessorised it simply with delicate earrings and a white handbag. Pastel colors are a summer staple piece and I was pleasantly surprised that a light color palette seemed to compliment my pale skin. Yet again, as evident from the photos, it is fairly noticeable that I did not burn (miraculously) but secondly, my tan game is exceedingly weak.
I am wearing a red lip-stain and a smokey eye which gives the illusion of bigger and brighter eyes. As of late, I have fallen deeply in love with eye makeup looks of the 50s and 60s. I switch it up from smokey eyes using a combination of blue greys to plum, brown-oranges and taupe shades. For 60s looks, it is all about full and voluminous lashes!
I hope you enjoyed this post and I am excited to share lots of new looks with you all.
