Scoff and Banter Afternoon Tea

I was truly honoured to be asked to come into Scoff and Banter at Oxford Street and try their Bespoke Afternoon Tea. It was such a quintessentially British experience with scrumptious treats and an extensive list of exotic and floral teas. I would regard myself as a tea connoisseur therefore, trying new tantalizing flavours fills me with pure excitement. Not to mention the utterly adorable pastel-coloured vintage tea cups. Hilariously, I found it near impossible to not poke out my little finger when drinking tea, I feel like it is almost a pompous reflex action!

Usually at establishments that offer Afternoon Tea, it is a set-menu and often you do not get a wide range of choice. At Scoff and Banter, you can really tailor it to your preferred palette with exquisite tasting starters, artisanal finger sandwiches and a resplendent mastery of flavours and craftsmanship of desserts. Whenever eating scones, I’ve always had the plain ones and hadn’t previously explored more flavours. The flavours available on the menu, consisted of cheddar cheese, seville orange, vanilla, maple and sultana and more! The seville orange one is my favourite I would say! For starters, I had the lobster brandy bisque with a warm cheese scone and we also picked the lamb cutlet, mint, lermon, cyprus parsley crust plus a vegetarian option. They were all excellently cooked, rich with flavours tantalising your palette. There was also a wide array of sandwiches to pick from, I decided to have the: rare venison gin and tonic, cucumber with a white bloomer, cheese and tomato and the

steak and balsamic onions with toasted sourdough. All were simply delicious.

Now let’s move on to desserts; how can one decide when all sound spectacular. After much deliberating, I was extremely pleased with the ones I picked. I went for the strawberry shortbread with whipped cream, the lemon meringue, with blackberry compote and lime syrup, the chocolate whisky cake and candied orange

dark chocolate creme chantily! All were superb!

The whole experience was thoroughly lovely and the service was second to none.
