What do your December days entail? I am the type of person who needs any excuse imaginable to justify a bit of pampering. Everything I do now is justified in the spirit of Christmas.
I find people’s morning routines quite fascinating as we all have our little quirks. With the deepest regret, it must be said that I am not a morning person in the slightest. In fact, there is usually a policy not to engage in contact for the first hour of me being awake – I’m a real life people-hating Grinch. Plus, is it just me or does everything seem to go wrong when you are in your most irritable moods? I once cried because I could not locate my hairbrush and went into a full ‘end of the world’ state before realising it was in my hand the whole time. I give you permission to facepalm after reading that.
Once I have woken up and snoozed my alarm far too many times, I flick through my social media, messages and then get responding to emails. I like to stay on top of all my online communications because it is so easy for everything to build up. I then make a list of emails I need to send out and create a list of things I need to achieve in the next hour. Once I have left my bed, my first mission is to make some green tea, lemon water or if I’m feeling really daring, having a shot of apple cider vinegar which is bound to wake you up! Or if none of those tickles your fancy, why not treat yourself to a hot chocolate – throw in some marshmallows and go all out? Santa would allow it for sure!
I then proceed to the bathroom after carefully selecting products I want to use that day depending on what my skin and hair demands. On this day, I was wanting to add some extra moisture to my skin. What I have been using religiously for the past month are products by my absolute favourite skincare brand, Tropic. I honestly recommend it to every single person who has an interest in beauty and searches for 100% cruelty-free, vegan products. The brand focuses on the idea that like our bodies, our skin needs feeding with healthy, nourishing and, most importantly, natural ingredients.
Firstly I apply 3 pumps of the Smoothing Cleanser onto dry skin before wiping it away with a damp Bamboo Cloth. It is a naturally antibacterial face cloth, helping to gently exfoliate dead skin cells, removing any makeup and dirt from pores. If makeup is particularly stubborn, these steps can be repeated!
Pat the skin dry with a soft towel making sure to avoid any scrubbing actions, then spritz the vitamin toner (3-4) pumps over your face and neck. The pH-balancing toner adds an instant refresh to your face, refining your pores offering an instant hydration. If you are pale like me and sometimes need a little bit of a glowing boost, I really suggest you make a purchase of the Sun Drops by Tropic. I add 3-4 drops of it into my hand and mix with one pump of Skin Feast Moisturiser. I then apply evenly to my entire face, including my neck, ears and eyelids! Then you must remember to wash your hands which I totally forgot to do the first time I tried it. Voila!
As fellow pale freckled skin fellows will know, often finding tanning products is something which we do not even attempt to do. In a world of Kim Kardashians, even the finest beauty brands often do not cater for pale skin. This is why I was totally over the moon to find a product that actually works embracing your natural beauty giving you a pretty sunkissed glow. Packed with patented tanning technology and a cocktail of skin-brightening plant and fruit extracts, this nourishing serum illuminates skin as you tan for a natural looking, streak-free result. Plus it smells utterly delectable!
I was exceedingly fascinated with the Sun Drops product especially and used my male friend as my guinea pig. He has naturally tanned skin but the lack of sunshine in England has meant that his tan has muted in colour. I applied a few drops of the product on his face and noticed straight away, his skin looked more tanned and alive in a really natural, healthy way!
After my Tropic skincare routine is complete, I then use a couple of pumps of the Extra Smooth hair serum. I have tried over 20 hair serums the past year and this one is by far, the best product I have ever used. It is a lightweight styling oil which helps to tame frizz, hydrate the hair and leaves an extra glossy feel after every application. It creates a salon look almost instantly – it’s absolutely miraculous!
In the photo at the top of the page, I had recently had my hair lightened at the beautiful Richard Ward Salon in Chelsea. As we all know, any form of lightening the hair will cause subsequent damage yet alas, this product by Tropic will give your hair the moisture, shine and repair you need! Please, please, please buy it! It will change your life! Once the hair is complete my face is ready for the day ahead 🙂 You can find all of the products by Tropic here.
